I've started an art journal!

I have been looking at art journals for a while now and wasn't sure at first. I didn't think I would have anything to go into it, I can't draw that well and I wasn't sure if it was for me. Then I kept looking at the pages that the very talented Shari Carroll was doing, she combines paint, texture paste, embossing, stamping, pattern papers, doodles and stickers, all the things I love, to produce these great works of art. She has inspired me to stop blog stalking and to give it a go, so here is my first attempt.

I decided that instead of working in a pre-bound book I would use flat sheets of A4 folded in half, I can back to back bind them when I have done a few and make my own covers. I find it easier to work on flat sheets, my Smash Book taught me that as I am a bit messy and get other fresh pages all mucky, this way I can hide the mess on the back with the next spread.

LCC Challenge #88 – Felt or Fabric

This fortnights challenge at Let's Craft and Create is Fabric or Felt. I have never used felt on a card before so I have to raid my sons crafty stash to find some. It went Ok but I'm not sure if I really like using it or not, I don't think I like the feel it has, a bit too close to wet wool for my liking?! Nice to try it for a change and to get me out of my comfort zone, thanks Vicky.

A great day with Pat

Today I had a great day with the lovely Pat (Created by Pat) we drank lots of tea and ate even more cake. We decided to set ourselves various challenges for the day. First off was the Daring Cardmakers challenge to use NEON on a card, we combined this with the sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday.

Next was the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, we ummed and arrred for a bit as we were not sure about it at first, then Pat had a spark of inspiration and was off and running at super speed, I on the other hand tinkered and flipped the sketch and got there, in the end!

Lastly, for me anyway, Pat had already done another card by the time I had finished faffing! was the Clearly Besotted colour challenge. We used Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery, Primrose Petals and Tempting Turquoise and set ourselves a challenge within a challenge, we both had to used the same background colour cardstock and matching ribbon.

Thanks for looking, and thanks Pat for a brill day. Lorry :o) xx
