Two Card Tuesday #3

Hello there, I'm back with my 3rd Two Card Tuesday personal prompt.

For these 2 cards I stuck to a very similar layout and tweeked it slightly so each one had a slightly different feel as I used the same pack of papers and almost the same colour scheme.

Thanks for looking, Lorry :o) xx

Switch it up Saturday #3

Hello again, I'm back with my 3rd offering for my Switch it up Saturday personal prompt.

This time I took one of my old old cards and changed the orientation. I kept the same shape for the main focal element but I made it a bit more manly by using muted colours and an image from the Wetlands set by Stamping' Up! Some ink blending and of course some twine and the card was called done.

Freestyle Friday #3

Hello there,

I'm back again with another Freestyle Friday card. This time I am making use of a little note card that was included in with a set of stamps from Clearly Besotted. All it needed was some spotty paper and some glitter card (which didn't show up in the pic) plus some bakers twine and the card was done.

Watercolour Wednesday #3

Hello there,

Today is number 3 of my personal prompt Watercolour Wednesday.

For this card I white heat embossed the fuchsia image from Clearly Besotted's Beautiful Friend set onto some watercolour card and used my Inktense pencils to add the bright vibrant colours. To add a bit more interest to the black strip I used my score board to add some lines for a bit of texture, a pop of pink card plus a sentiment from an old Stamping' Up! set and the card was done.

Stash Kit Sunday #2

Hello there,

For this Stash Kit Sunday personal challenge I used the same pattern papers that are on girlie version of Two Card Tuesday #2 card, the supplies were just laying on my desk and they were so pretty and I had the project life cards from the set and I just started making.

Trouble was by the time I realised that I was doing a Stash Kit challenge I had already made a big dent in the kit but I hadn't taken a pic of the stuff I was using, so for this week I have had to use the promo shots that are on the web, but you get the idea.

Stuff I was using as my 'Kit'

Here are the cards I made

I don't do Project Life but I just fell in love with these cards and had to have them. They sat in a draw for ages so I thought they would be a prime candidate for a Stash Kit Sunday as they are too pretty to hide away. I also had the 6 x 6 pattern paper from the same collection so it was obvious to use that as well. Add in the mix some bakers twine as well as some punched and die cut glitter card for accents, a few little sentiments that were heat embossed and hand cut out and these bad boys were done.

Three of a Kind Thursday #2

Hello.

The Three of a Kind Thursday cards this week are super quick and easy and could be mass produced if needed. Note to Self: do these for my son Max's Christmas Thank You's!

Card 1

Card 2

Card 3

This super cute set from Clearly Besotted really doesn't need much more than a sentiment and of course some googly eyes and then the cards are all done.

Two Card Tuesday 2016 #2

Hi There,

I'm back with the second Two Card Tuesday personal prompt of 2016.

I dug out my trusty notebook where I keep all my scribbled sketches, notes on techniques and any other card making notes that I want to refer back to, and found this sketch that I thought would be good to use for this challenge.

This one is for the Blokies

And this one is for the Girlies

I picked this camera stamp from Stampin' Up! for the main image as I hadn't inked it up in a while as I normally just use it for scrap book pages. I kept the sentiment (which is from Clearly Besotted) quite generic so it could be used for most occasions. The pattern papers are the only differences between the two, the bloke version uses the Travel Notes paper stack and the girlie version uses papers from My Mind's Eye My Story.

Thanks for Looking, :o) xx

Switch it up Saturday #2

Hello again.

I'm back with the second Switch it up Saturday personal promo/challenge.

For this card I dug out a pic of one of the first cards I ever made. I had quite limited supplies back then and I hadn't even discovered stamping yet, I had to print out sentiments from my computer!

This is my re-make

And this is the original

As you can see I stuck to the layout fairly closely, this time I used the cute hedgehog from, you guessed it Clearly Besotted, and coloured him/her with my Prismacolor Pencils. I white heat embossed the sentiment, mounted it all on some stripy paper from Lawn Fawn and the card was done.

Freestyle Friday #2

Hi There

Today I have got the second of my Freestyle Friday personal promo/challenges. This card was made a little while ago and put it in a 'safe' place which I have only just found!

I tried to keep the layout fairly simple so the coloured up Memory Box butterfly die cut could be the main focus but it did get a little lost so I added a block of pattern papers, a couple of leaf die cuts from Clearly Besotted and a sentiment, also from Clearly Besotted and it was done.

Watercolour Wednesday #2

Hi There.

Today is number 2 of my Watercolour Wednesday personal prompt/challenge.

I really enjoyed painting with the Sketchy Rose stamp from AlteNew, I think roses are one of my favourite flowers to colour in. I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour set which I love, the colours are fab and the paint seems quite silky and is easy to work with. I fussy cut round the side of the flowers so they would stand out against the black strip. A sentiment from Clearly Besotted and the card was done.

Markers on Monday #2

Hi There

I'm back today with number 2 of my Markers on Monday personal prompt/challenge.

For this card I used the Secret Garden set from Sampin' Up! and the sentiment from a freebie stamp set from Clearly Besotted I got with a magazine. The Copics I used were R00, R02, R05, E79, YG41, G07 and G19. I made the tag from some scrapbook paper from my stash, I coloured the hole reinforcer to make it look more tag like. I added some stripe paper to make the flowers stand out more plus some sparkly bakers twine for the top of the tag, a bit of glitter tape and the card was done.

Stash Kit Sunday #1

Hi There,

Today I am back with the first Stash Kit Sunday. For this series of prompt/challenges I decided that I would make up a mini kit from stuff I already had in my stash. I will pick a paper stack, some extras to go with and then come up with a few cards from it all.

For this kit I dug out a 12 x 12 paper stack called My Girl from American Crafts that I got ages ago from TK Maxx. I looked for the papers that had a smaller print on so I could cut them down to 6 x 6 so they would work better for cards. I matched up some bakers twine, some sequins and punched out some hearts and stars from gold and silver card stock add in a couple of stamps sets and I was good to go.

Here is the basic kit I made up

And here are the cards I made from this kit

I got a total of 12 cards from this kit, the others are very similar to these, just different colour/paper combos, and I still have plenty of paper left over.

This is a great way to make a dent in my rather large paper stash. I think I have a bit of a problem as I just love pattern papers but I tend not to use them very often, especially the 12 x 12 pads. Cutting them down to 6 x 6 squares is definitely the way to go and I will use papers I wouldn't have even looked at before.

Three of a Kind Thursday #1

Hello there,

Today I am back with another personal challenge called Three of a Kind Thursday. The thinking behind this challenge is to make 3 cards along the same lines be it using the same sketch/layout, same stamp set or the same paper stack but tweek each one so they are the same but different!

Card 1

Card 2

Card 3

For the cards today I decided to use the same sketch/layout but change up the pattern papers and stamp sets that I used. I kept the black and white elements consistent on the top layer as well as the bakers twine tied around the top so they would look like part of a suite.

Card 1 used pattern papers from Amy Tangerine's Ready, Set, Go paper stack, the cute pooch is from Lawn Fawn's Critters at the Dog Park which I simply coloured with my Copics and the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental

For Card 2 I used some paper from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook 6x6 paper stack, the image is from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Farm set plus the Happy Birthday from Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental.

Card 3 uses some old Designer Series Paper from Stamping' Up! which is no longer available, the funky strawberry is from Paper Smooches Cute Fruit stamp stand the sentiment is from and old set Clearly Besotted called Fruitilicious.

Two Card Tuesday 2016 #1

Hello there.

I'm back today with a Two Card Tuesday personal challenge/prompt. For these challenges I will make 2 cards using the same layout/sketch, a version for girlies and a version for a blokie by changing up the colour combo, pattern papers, theme, embellishment etc. to each card a different feel.

Here is the one for the Girlies

And the one for the Blokies

For these 2 clean and simple cards I just changed up the colour scheme and made the main focus hearts for the girls and stars for the guys. For the splatters and lines in the background I used my trusty Gorgeous Grunge stamp set from Stampin' Up! for a little interest in the background as it was a bit too simple when I left it plain.

Switch it up Saturday #1

Hi there.

Today I have the first card for my Switch it up Saturday personal challenge. The behind it is to take a card that I made ages ago, use it as inspiration and re-work it. To kick this challenge off I thought it logical to remake the very first card I posted here on this blog.

Here is my 'Switched Up' version

And here is the original

I mainly took inspiration from the layout. I changed the main focal shape to a circle, simplified the background a bit by not having as many layers and added some twine. The supplies all came from a Stampin' Up! card kit, I got it because I fell in love with the tin it all came in, the cards inside that you make up were nice but, me being me I had to go a bit off-piste with some of them. I also had a load of bits left over (I cut the pattern card bases in half to make the most of them) so I could make up a few extra cards as well.

Freestyle Friday #1

Hi there and welcome to the first Freestyle Friday personal prompt/challenge type thing. Here I will post cards (or other stuff) that don't quite fit into any of my other challenges.

For this Freestyle Friday I have made 2 cards using the 'Out of this World' stamp set from Clearly Besotted. I also dusted off one of my embossing folders, I always forget about using them but it does add a bit of texture so I may have to dig them out more often.

I coloured the cute little aliens with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut them out. I used my mini ink blending tool with Distress Inks for the planet and sky plus a few drops of water to add some interest to the background. All that was needed once the cards were put together were some googly eyes and then I called them done.

Thanks for looking, Lorry :o) xx

Watercolour Wednesday #1

Hi there,

I had a rather large break from blogging and have now decided to get back into it. To help me organise myself I came up with several blog titles for various days of the week to promp/challenge me to pull my finger out and make and post something for that day.

For my 'Watercolour Wednesday' personal promp/challenge type thing the idea is to make a card using some form of watercoloured element, be it from my traditional pan style paints, watercolour pencils and pens or even my Distress Inks used as paint.

For this card I used a lovely rose image from Clearly Besotted, I coloured it with my Zigg Clean Color real brush pens, then cut the top of the image panel using a notebook die also from Clearly Besotted. I then stamped the background using the Hardwood background stamp from Stampin' Up! onto some craft card stock with some brown ink. The sentiment is from, you guessed it, Clearly Besotted (I love their stuff), added some twine and the card was done.

Thanks for looking, Lorry :o) xx

I'm back with a plan and a 'Markers on Monday' #1 card

Hello there,

I'm back after a mega long blogging break and ready to get back on the metaphorical horse, pull my finger out and start crafting properly again.

I never really stopped crafting while I was away but I just sort of dabbled with it, a bit here, a bit there but I'm ready to get back into it.

At the beginning of the year I picked a word for 2016 to help inspire me, that word was 'Productive', and now, 6 months later I am finally starting to put that word into practice, properly!

To help me get back in the swing of things I decided to become a bit more organised and plan out my blog posts to give me a deadline to work to, I find I work better under a bit of pressure.

I also came up with some blog post titles to structure things a bit, to challenge myself and give me a bit of a theme so, Markers on Monday, Two Card Tuesday, Watercolour Wednesday, Three of a Kind Thursday, Freestyle Friday, Switch it up Saturday and Stash Kit Sunday were born. I am going to split these into 2 groups and work on a 2 week rotation so I have a proper schedule for my posting and hopefully this structure will help me to be more 'Productive' – that's the plan so watch this space!

To get the ball rolling again I made this card for my 'Markers on Monday' personal promp/challenge type thing, the idea is to make a card with any element that uses, you guessed it, markers.

I recently took the Kit and Clowder Elements of Nature colouring class run by the very talented Alyce Keegan. This helped me to rekindle my love of markers, it also, unfortunately for my bank balance made me realise that I had some very large blending gaps in my pen collection, and that I wanted to swop from Flex and Promarkers to Copics. Don't get me wrong I do love those other markers and they have served me well for a good few years but I just love the nibs of the Copics, the blending groups aren't so hit and miss, plus you can change the nibs if needed. Anyway enough waffle from me (sorry for such a long post) here is the card.
